Green and Aubergine Hit the Scene

Amanda and Wes knew they wanted to collaborate with a wedding design boutique as unique as their simple, yet sophisticated, square invitation. So the couple selected La Petite Fleur, weddings and special events, to help them realize their big day vision with style.

LPF’s team of floral and décor designers pulled from the couple’s affinity for clean, sophisticated lines and rich colors to create a striking scene in green and aubergine for this early September wedding at Huntingdon Valley Country Club.

A rose petal aisle led the couple across the club’s lush green courtyard to a set of grand wrought iron gates, which were adorned with wreaths of deep green lemon leaves and rich mango roses.  Lining the aisle and framing the couple as they exchanged vows were bright green mum pomanders suspended with purple organza from shepherd hooks.

While Amanda’s bridesmaids carried tight bundles of mini lavender and aubergine calla lilies; she carried a collection of deep aubergine, mango and lavender calla lilies, that were accented with thin loops of grass blades and finished with a rhinestone cuff. Complementing the ladies’ flowers were the groomsmen’s mini calla boutonnieres.

The reception tables boasted a beautiful display of plum napkins set against Darcy Green apple damask cloths—topped with arrangements of mango, green and deep aubergine blooms, accented with cymbidium orchid satellites.  Cocktail tables were topped with lime and plum striped cubes filled with bright green grass amidst twinkling candles.

The mango rose wreaths and green button mum pomanders, positioned atop varying sizes of glass cylinders, made an encore appearance upon the ballroom’s walk-in fireplace, which served as the backdrop for the sweetheart table.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Wedding

World travelers currently living in Greece, Danielle and Devin chose TRUST in the City of Brotherly Love for their July 9th destination wedding. A self-proclaimed urbanite, the bride loved the venue¹s downtown location in Old City and its monochromatic (white-on-white) palette and elegant details.

Wedding boutique La Petite Fleur (LPF), located just outside Philadelphia, worked with Danielle via Skype and e-mail to create a look for the big day that integrated the couple’s desire for an untraditional, yet romantic, atmosphere. With the summer’s heat and the locale’s cool, white marble interior in mind, LPF’s Leigh Karsch and Ronald Giletti proposed a crisp lime and yellow color palette that would be accented by contemporary blooms and classic, sophisticated accessories.

Orchids, tropical foliage and pearls played leading roles in the event for their sleek, innate beauty. From the bouquets and centerpieces, which dripped with pearls, to the napkin rings and chargers, pearl opulence was scattered throughout. Danielle even took inspiration from the décor for the bridesmaids’ gift— a multi-strand pearl necklace (which finished-off their oyster-colored dresses).

Ambiance was courtesy of LPF’s trusted colleagues at Synergetic Sound and Lighting, whose artful draping enhanced the venue’s entryway, defined the ceremony space and added dimension to the lounge and dining areas.

Soft yellow up-lighting had the entire celebration aglow, while perfectly positioned pin-spotting illuminated the custom bear grass table runner with gently arching orchids, which adorned the head table, and the couture dinner table centerpieces perched upon monstera leaf chargers.

Flowers and baubles weren’t the only design elements that defined Danielle and Devin’s, special day. An ampersand, symbolizing their love of simply “being together,” appeared throughout the custom stationery suite designed by LPF, which included programs, place cards and seating chart.

Although there were several untraditional “touches” that pulled in Danielle and Devin’s desire for something romantic, yet a little different, the wishing tree in lieu of a guest book took the cake! The unique guest sign-in tree, created with curly willow branches and hand-sewn orchid blossom garlands, beckoned people to scribe “sage sentiments” upon beribboned, hand-cut paper leaves, which were then hung from the tree and later gathered for a keepsake album.

When it was time to party, LPF transformed the staircase into a mirrored bar, with a runner of orchids and sparkling candle light. Cocktail tables were draped with festive striped linens and adorned with floating orchid and pearl arrangements.

A Real Blast

 Sarah Redelheim & Vincent Joyce
July 4, 2010
Normandy Farm  Blue Bell, Pennsylvania

Although the proposal was a surprise, it wasn’t shocking that newlyweds Sarah and Vincent Joyce planned a July affair at rustic Normandy Farm in Blue Bell that was both beautiful and a real blast!

The couple knew they wanted their personalities to shine through every detail, so they chose wedding boutique La Petite Fleur in Glenside, PA, to fashion the festivities’ flowers, flourishes, and finishing touches.

With their love of friends, laughter (and Independence Day!) as inspiration, La Petite Fleur turned the Fourth of July into Sarah and Vinny’s personal holiday—creating a look for their wedding that was full of pizzazz and personality!

Boutique owner Leigh Karsch fashioned  a stationery suite, which included a black and silver pocket invitation, as well as escort and table cards emblazoned with a signature “firework flash” and finished-off with silver “Sparklers.”

The flowers were as unique and vibrant as the bride and groom. Sarah’s bouquet was an elegant collection of white calla lilies and roses accented with tiny crystals (for just a hint of sparkle), and the bridesmaid bouquets popped with color—featuring two designs of hot pink roses, a variety of mango-colored blooms, celosia, red berries and pink mini carnations.  Shimmery sweet were the flower girls wearing flower halos and carrying rose petal-filled baskets.

The ceremony boasted a custom La Petite Fleur chuppa dressed in light, flowing white fabric. Meanwhile, lavender blooms and leaves, secured with trailing white satin, adorned the guest chairs.

The reception décor was elegant, yet exuberant, and featured two styles of centerpieces.  Some tables featured various sized glass cylinders filled with brightly colored water and floating candles, while a collection of fuchsia glass cubes with single-colored bloom clusters in brilliant gem tones were perched upon other tables.

This high-spirited celebration marked Sarah and Vinny’s occasion in a remarkably personal and— with La Petite Fleur’s influence— high-style fashion.

Bloomin' Love

Danielle and Andy
June 5, 2010
Flourtown, Pennsylvania

Flowers, Invitations and Accessories by La Petite Fleur
Photography by La Petite Fleur, and also courtesy of Courtney Hurley

Love bloomed at the wedding of Danielle and Andy this spring.  And although their big day was defined by love, it was designed by La Petite Fleur. We branded this adorable couple’s event with elements as beautiful and fun as their relationship.

In bright, yet classic, green and pink hues, a gerbera daisy set the look for the big day in just the right way.  The wedding and its style debuted on a “picture-perfect” save-the-date card, which was later followed-up with a pretty sweet invitation ensemble featuring pink gerbera-stamped panel cards nestled in a pocket and secured by a curiously placed, yet practical, vertical pink satin ribbon.

On the big day, Danielle carried a tight cluster of hydrangea and gerbera daisies, while the bridesmaids held gerbera daisy and trachellium bouquets, which included variegated greens punctuated by fun pink polka dot leaves.

The reception’s design aesthetic was an outgrowth of this simply, sweet style— featuring centerpieces of lush green grass flats, from which perky pink gerberas peeked, finished with a pearl-fastened pink ribbon. Perched nearby, table cards named after members of the bridal party spoke to the couple’s sense of humor (and to their guests, literally)—revealing “little-known-facts” about each person.

After an evening of dancing and celebrating, guests were treated to Danielle and Andy monogrammed water bottles and soft pretzels packaged in “thank you for helping us tie the knot” bags.

Sparkle Beach!

I

A Sparkling Beach Bat Mitzvah
4.10.2010
Kol Ami Congregation   Elkins Park, PA

This sunset soiree at Congregation Kol Ami (Elkins Park) beamed with glamour – reflecting the guest of honor’s vibrant personality and blissful mood for the evening.  Designed and staged by La Petite Fleur, Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah was reminiscent of those warm beach days when sunlight glistens on the water.

An original “R” logo branded every detail of the event—having been debuted on the custom-designed invitations, which even featured an “R” postal stamp.  The beauty of the beach abounded as an oversized cymbidium orchid sphere beckoned guests to grab their hand-tied sand dollar place cards which guided them to their tables.

Guests celebrated among cocktail tables which featured bowls of cymbidium orchids floating atop a collection of shells and sparkling wire. The room was dressed in bright mango, lime and raspberry hues. Brilliant pinspotting perfectly illuminated all of the details in the ballroom.

The adult tables featured tall cylinders filled with curly willow branches that were draped with crystals and raspberry votives.  Other tables boasted slim containers of crystallized raspberry water, hydrangea and arching dendrobium orchids. The centerpieces sat atop lavish dot linens that were as whimsical as they were elegant.

Meanwhile, Rachel and her friends gathered around sheer sparkle-clothed tables that were finished with polka dot wrapped cylinders of green hydrangea (with Rachel’s logo, of course) and then accented by pretty jars filled with candy in coordinating sherbet shades.

Finishing touches that had Rachel and her family tickled pink were the gift card “gift box” and the custom-made drink umbrellas for the color-palette-inspired drinks, which included Cosmos and Shirley Temples.

Destination Sophistication

Carrie and Bobby
October 2009
Palm Beach, Florida

La Petite Fleur transcended the usual with this traditional, yet exceptional, Palm Beach wedding.

For Carrie and Bobbie refined fun was the natural impetus for their beachy love affair.  Therefore, the design team at La Petite Fleur worked to create harmony between the location’s bright atmosphere and the couple’s sophisticated energy and, subsequently, the results were stunning. The suite of printed pieces – from the save the date card and invitation ensemble, to the table and escort cards – showcased the event’s signature element, a palm tree (which when letterpressed on the invitation card exuded total elegance) and a classic navy and lime color palette.

Tropical florals dazzled guests who traveled from all over the US to toast the happy couple. From initial wreaths on the church gates, to lush orchid centerpieces, native Floridian blooms created the landscape for this sophisticated soiree.

LPF Had a Ball with Ancillae Assumpta Academy

This past Saturday evening, La Petite Fleur supported Ancillae Assumpta Academy’s annual Blue and White Ball at the Ballroom at the Ben in Philadelphia. This year, the event benefited the Wyncote school’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Lab, which is currently under construction.

Using school colors (blue and white, of course) and the STEM lab’s curriculum, which includes LEGO robotics, as inspiration, the LPF design team constructed centerpieces that merged education with elegance.

Playing off the science aspect, we designed table décor that utilized an abundance of clean-line glassware. Several of the centerpieces included tall cylinders that showcased custom-designed wraps featuring the words Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Suspended above these wraps in the top third of the cylinders were intricate LEGO Bionicle sculptures and K’nex pieces. To complement the rigidity of the cylinder pieces, bubble bowls filled with blue water, loops of grass and a white Gerbera were nestled at each base.

Alternating tables featured tall cylinders with the custom wrap, blue water and streams of white cymbidium orchids.  Completing this high-minded look was a set of five beaker-like bud vases with orchids and tall grass.

Overall, for the La Petite Fleur team, discovering how to work this theme into a fun, yet sophisticated, concept was as cool as school!
